2025 Hyundai Tucson PHEV Hero

The 2025 model year brings a meaningful refresh to the Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). The updated version of this efficient crossover showcases revised exterior and interior styling, enhanced technology features, and improvements to its electrified powertrain. Notably, the front fascia now shows off a more dominant grille along with streamlined LED lighting elements.

The Tucson PHEV’s cabin has been reworked as well, focusing on improved ergonomics and state-of-the-art amenities. The centerpiece is a unified curved display housing with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. Frequently used controls have been repositioned for easier access, while additional storage spaces add convenience. Passenger comfort is heightened with new features such as a Baby Mode drive setting for gentler acceleration that’s less likely to disturb sleeping passengers. Hyundai has also made targeted upgrades to the plug-in hybrid powertrain, including the addition of selectable regenerative braking levels and a Green Zone drive mode for maximizing the electric side of operation.

Thanks to Hyundai's industry-leading safeguards, Tucson PHEV owners can drive with added peace of mind. It’s backed by a five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and an impressive ten-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty covering the plug-in hybrid system components. As a bonus, Hyundai includes three years of complimentary standard maintenance visits and five years of roadside assistance.

Trims and Powertrain

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson PHEV is presented in two well-equipped trims: SEL and Limited. Their power comes from a 268-horsepower plug-in hybrid system that pairs a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a 72.0-kW electric motor and a 13.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This setup channels power through a six-speed automatic transmission to a standard all-wheel drivetrain. When the vehicle is plugged in to a Level 2 (240-volt) power source, the battery can be recharged in under two hours using the onboard 7.2-kW charger.

The Tucson PHEV is EPA-rated for up to 32 miles of all-electric range and 77 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent). Once the battery is depleted, operation seamlessly switches to hybrid power and achieves an estimated 35 mpg (combined). When it’s properly equipped, the Tucson PHEV can tow up to 2,000 pounds. Behind the rear seats, 31.9 cubic feet of cargo space expands to 66.3 cubic feet with the second row folded down.

Standard Features

The SEL has heated front seats, a hands-free power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, fabric upholstery, automatic bi-LED headlights, and proximity keyless entry with push-button start. If you go for the Limited, you’ll enjoy premium features like leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, an eight-way power front passenger seat, driver's seat memory, a head-up display, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a fingerprint authentication system for vehicle starting and personalization. As the more expensive trim, the Limited also gets full LED exterior lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, enhanced ambient interior lighting, rain-sensing wipers, and 19-inch wheels.

The Limited trim adds forward attention warning, blind-spot and surround-view monitors, highway driving assist, upgraded adaptive cruise control, enhanced rear occupant alert, perimeter (front, rear, and side) parking sensors, and semi-automatic Remote Smart Parking Assist. Other standard safety features found in both trims include an array of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, downhill brake control, and a backup camera.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage in the 2025 Tucson Plug-in Hybrid. It offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, natural-language voice recognition, over-the-air updates, and access to Bluelink+ connected services (for emergency assistance and remote vehicle functions).
