2025 Hyundai Sonata Hero

The Sonata has provided a comfort and style upgrade in Hyundai’s sedan lineup since it was introduced to U.S. drivers for model year 1989. That tradition continues with the 2025 edition, which presents a realigned lineup that now includes the mid-grade SEL Convenience. This well-outfitted trim level contains amenities that were previously offered via an optional package. It slots just below the sporty N Line, which gets a powertrain upgrade and other performance-focused attributes. In other changes for this new model year, the N Line now has a console-mounted air vent to give backseat passengers more comfort.

Like every other Hyundai model, the Sonata is covered by America’s Best Warranty, including ten years/100,000 miles on the powertrain. It also comes with three years/36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled service (tire rotations, oil/filter changes, and multipoint inspections) and five years/unlimited miles of roadside assistance.

Trims and Powertrains

Hyundai offers the 2025 Sonata in four trims: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, and N Line. The SE, SEL, and SEL Convenience use a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that makes 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drive is available on the SEL. The EPA fuel economy ratings for the Sonata SE, SEL, and SEL Convenience are 29 mpg city/36 mpg highway.

The Sonata N Line gets a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that increases power output to 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a front-wheel drivetrain (HTRAC all-wheel drive is not available on this trim). The N Line’s EPA-estimated fuel economy is 23 mpg city/32 mpg highway.
