KONA Electric
Following last year’s comprehensive redesign, the Hyundai Kona Electric returns for model year 2025 with the same confident exterior and high-quality interior. This stylish compact crossover continues to set a high standard for electric vehicles, offering an attractive blend of affordability and upscale features, while delivering impressive long-range performance. With up to 63.7 cubic feet of cargo space, the Kona Electric is also remarkably versatile, with plenty of room for whatever you need to carry.
The 2025 model represents the second year of this new generation with a few updates, including the introduction of a sporty new N Line trim. This version has side skirts, restyled bumpers, and exclusive 19-inch wheels. Plus, several features previously reserved for the top-of-the-line Limited, such as ambient and LED interior lighting and exterior vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging, are now standard on lower trims as well. As for the color palette, Ultimate Red Metallic is a new addition.

The 2025 Kona Electric is a front-wheel-drive crossover EV that comes in a choice of four trim packages: SE, SEL, N Line, and Limited. As the base trim, the SE is equipped with a 99-kW electric motor that generates 133 horsepower; its paired with a 48.6 kWh battery to supply a 200-mile range. The SEL and Limited step up to a 150-kW motor delivering 201 horsepower, along with a 64-kWh battery that provides up to 261 miles of range. The N Line shares this powertrain but has a slightly reduced range of 230 miles.
Charging
When it’s plugged in to a 240-volt Level 2 charger, the SE can reach a 10 to 80 percent charge in about five hours, while the higher trims take around six hours. A Level 3 DC fast charger will significantly reduce the time, completing a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 43 minutes. What’s more, all trims have regenerative braking, which helps recharge the battery incrementally by capturing and converting kinetic energy (formed during the braking process) that would otherwise be wasted.
Standard Features
The SE comes with a well-rounded set of attributes, including cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, manually adjustable front seats, a 60/40 split-folding rear seatback, a rear center armrest with cupholders, USB-C charging ports, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, automatic LED headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The SEL receives a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, roof rails, second-row AC vents, LED interior lighting, and rear privacy glass.
The N Line stands out with gloss-black exterior accents, unique bumpers, upholstery in a combination of leatherette and Alcantara, wireless phone charging, an N Line-specific steering wheel, Digital Key 2, ambient interior lighting, a sunroof, and trim-specific 19-inch wheels. The Limited enhances the SEL’s offerings with H-Tex leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, Digital Key 2, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a hands-free liftgate, and ambient interior lighting.
Driver-Assist Technologies
Each ’25 Kona Electric trim comes with Hyundai SmartSense, a suite of advanced safety-enhancing features. These technologies include adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection and junction turning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, speed limit assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, automatic high beams, and rear occupant alert. The Limited adds even more advanced features, such as Remote Smart Parking Assist, a surround-view camera, a blind-spot view monitor, and parking sensors (front, side, and rear).
Infotainment and Connectivity
The multimedia system in the SE and SEL centers around a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a multi-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity. The N Line and Limited enhance the audio experience with a top-shelf Bose audio system. Hyundai Pay is also included on all trims, allowing drivers to make cashless payments for parking and charging directly from the infotainment touchscreen.
