IONIQ 5
Hyundai has been some noteworthy updates to the Ioniq 5 all-electric compact crossover for 2025, including increased battery capacity, longer driving range, and the introduction of the adventure-focused XRT trim. This five-passenger electric vehicle is now built at Hyundai's new Metaplant America facility in Georgia, making it the first U.S.-manufactured Hyundai EV.
Key improvements include larger batteries across the Ioniq 5 lineup, with the standard range pack growing to 63.0 kWh and the long-range unit expanding to 84.0 kWh. The model also becomes the first Hyundai to feature a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, providing access to Tesla's Supercharger network. Other changes include redesigned bumpers, a new rear spoiler, and more aerodynamic wheels, while the interior gains an updated center console with physical controls and a revised HVAC interface. The newly introduced XRT becomes the first Ioniq 5 with some off-road capability with standard AWD and increased ground clearance. While the other trims focus on everyday electric mobility, the XRT appeals to buyers seeking occasional adventure beyond paved roads.
This overview covers the standard 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5. If you’re interested in the high-performance Ioniq 5 N, please see our separate page dedicated to that variant.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes in five trim levels: SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited. The SE Standard Range has a 168-hp rear-wheel-drive (RWD) motor and a 63-kWh battery. Most of the other trims offer a 225-hp RWD motor or a 320-hp dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration paired with an 84-kWh battery. The exception is the XRT, which comes as AWD only.
Charging
On a full charge, the SE Standard Range can travel 249 miles. Other RWD trims offer a range of 318 miles, while AWD editions offer varied capabilities: 290 miles (SE/SEL), 269 miles (Limited), and 259 miles (XRT). Depending on the trim and connection type, DC fast charging at peak capacity will take the battery from 10% to 80% in 20 to 30 minutes. With the back seat upright, the cargo space is 27.2 cubic feet; with the rear seats folded, it expands to 59.3 cubic feet.
Standard Features
Except for the powertrain differences, the SE Standard Range and SE are equipped the same. These entry-level trims have heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with a driver-only mode, stain-resistant fabric upholstery, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, an eight-way power driver's seat, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. The SE with AWD also gets a cabin heat pump for optimized comfort and efficiency.
The SEL adds upscale features, such as H-Tex leatherette upholstery, a hands-free power liftgate, a heated steering wheel, an eight-way power front passenger seat, heated rear seats, projector-style LED headlamps, power-folding side mirrors, rooftop side rails, rear air-conditioning vents, digital key access, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and wireless device charging. The XRT builds off the SEL by adding unique exterior treatments, a lifted (23mm) suspension, improved approach and departure angles (for better off-pavement driving), exclusive interior accents, a sliding center console, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability for charging electronics and small appliances, and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.
The Limited expands on the SEL with a glass panel roof with a power sunshade, heated and ventilated front seats, a driver's memory system, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, enhanced exterior accents, upgraded front LED accent lighting, rear side-window sunshades, adjustable rear outboard head restraints, a sliding center console, V2L capability, ambient cabin lighting, and 20-inch wheels (AWD-only).
