Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

The 2024 Palisade accommodates eight with the middle-row bench seat and seven when that row is outfitted with captain’s chairs instead. The trim choices up for offer are the SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition. They get a standard front-wheel drivetrain, with all-wheel drive available.

A 3.8-liter V6 engine making 291 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque joins with an eight-speed automatic transmission to form the powertrain. The EPA has officially estimated that the FWD Palisade will achieve 19 mpg around town and 27 mpg on the highway; the AWD Palisade is rated to return 19 city/25 highway. This model can tow as much as 5,000 pounds with trailer brakes; AWD versions come with a tow mode selector.

Standard and Optional Equipment

The SE is a nicely equipped base trim, getting proximity keyless entry, automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, push-button ignition, two zones of automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch gauge cluster, a haptic-feedback steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated exterior mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators and auto-dimming feature, front and rear skid plates, an underfloor storage compartment, five USB ports (four of which are Type-C), a 12V power outlet, and 18-inch wheels. The second and third rows have 60/40-split bench seats, rear privacy glass, and a quiet mode setting to facilitate road-trip snoozing.

The SEL swaps in a pair of captain’s chairs for the middle-row bench (which can be put back as an option), dipping passenger capacity to seven. Its other upgrades consist of Digital Key, wireless phone charging, rooftop rails, a hands-free liftgate, welcome lights in the door handles, LED interior lights, LED taillights, H-Tex upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a HomeLink universal garage door opener. With the addition of the SEL Premium Package, this trim gains luxury cred with ventilated front seats, heated and ventilated second-row seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a sunroof, position memory for the driver’s seat and exterior mirrors, a heated steering wheel, Hyundai’s Driver Talk in-car PA system, 20-inch wheels, sunshades for the rear windows, two third-row USB-C ports, a 115V power outlet, and a few safety and infotainment upgrades (more on that in the sections that follow).

The XRT gets the sunroof and rear sunshades along with trim-specific 20-inch wheels, black H-Tex upholstery, two-tone bumper treatment, and blacked-out exterior elements. The Limited is set up like the SEL with the Premium Package added, but with genuine leather upholstery, a power thigh-cushion extender for the driver, a head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, an upgraded headliner with an elegant mélange design, a heated power-folding bench seat for the third row, ambient interior lighting (64 colors), a and dual-panel sunroof.

The Calligraphy gets its own 20-inch wheel design, plus a host of upper-echelon amenities: Nappa leather upholstery, a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel, a frameless digital rearview mirror, puddle lights, a microfiber headliner, special rear accent lighting, an upgraded driver’s seat, quilted-leather door panels, and wing-out second-row headrests. The debuting Calligraphy Night Edition gets all of the above, but with black interior and exterior treatments, including black leather seats.

Driver-Assist Technology

Hyundai’s standard SmartSense safety system adds protection for the occupants of the 2024 Palisade. In the three lowest trims (SE, SEL, and XRT), the technologies in this bundle are automatic high beams, navigation-based smart cruise control, driver attention warning, blind-spot collision warning, forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection), rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, safe exit assist, rear parking sensors, highway driving assist, and rear occupant alert.

The SEL’s optional Premium Package will upgrade the forward collision system with lane change and evasive steering assist while adding front parking sensors, an improved highway driving assist system, a surround-view monitor, and a blind-spot view monitor. Those features all come by default in the Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition. The Calligraphy trims both get Remote Smart Parking Assist (automated parking).

Infotainment and Connectivity

The infotainment system in the Palisade is managed via a 12.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen. The features within it are smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), navigation, Bluetooth, HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, dynamic voice recognition, and an audio system. The SEL with the Premium Package moves up to a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, which comes standard in the three highest trims (Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition).
