Trims, Power Source, and Performance

The Ioniq 5 is a one-of-a-kind compact crossover offered in SE, SEL, Limited, and Disney100 Platinum Edition trim levels. Both the SE Standard Range and SE come with a single rear-axle motor that drives the rear wheels; it makes 168 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque for the SE Standard Range and 225 hp with the same torque for the SE and other trims. A dual-motor all-wheel drive setup generating 320 hp and 446 lb.-ft. of torque is optional for most trims and standard in the Disney100 Platinum Edition.

Range and Charging

The two batteries offered with the base SE are a 58 kWh and a 77.4 kWh. With the smaller unit (which is only compatible with RWD), the Ioniq 5 SE can travel up to 220 miles before needing a recharge (or 127 MPGe in the city and 94 MPGe on the highway). The 77.4 kWh pack is available with either RWD or AWD. This upgrade increases range to 303 miles (132 city/98 highway) with RWD, while with AWD it caps at 260 miles (110 city/88 highway).

Using a standard 240V Level 2 charger, the Ioniq 5 with the smaller battery will go from a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 5 hours and 50 minutes (7 hours and 10 minutes with the larger battery). With an 800V DC fast charger, 80 percent charge will be achieved in about 18 minutes.

Notable Amenities

The SE is furnished with an array of attractive features, like proximity keyless entry, automatic LED headlights, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-retracting flush door handles, acoustic solar control glass and rear privacy glass, push-button start, five USB ports (one data and four charging), and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The front seats are heated and power-adjustable, too, and the fold-flat rear seat splits 60/40. With the SEL, you’ll also get a hands-free liftgate, a wireless phone charger, a heated steering wheel, Digital Key, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink.

The Limited is loaded with plush amenities, the most significant of which include premium LED front accent lighting, projector-type LED headlights, power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic glass roof, H-Tex synthetic-leather upholstery, ventilated front seats with power adjustability for the passenger, a driver’s seat with position memory and a deluxe relaxation mode, a sliding center console, a rear center armrest with cupholders, and rear side-window sunshades. This tech-heavy trim also gets an augmented-reality (AR) head-up display, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) onboard charging system, 64-color ambient interior lighting, and a digital rearview mirror. The Disney100 Platinum Edition builds on the Limited with standard AWD, unique badges and wheels, black exterior accents, silkscreen Disney-logo door trim, and exclusive Disney100 floor mats.

Driver-Assist Technologies

With the ’24 Ioniq 5, safety is paramount. That’s why Hyundai outfits each trim with the generous SmartSense safety suite, which incorporates blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, rear parking sensors, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and junction turning detection, lane keeping assist, and lane following assist. The suite also includes intelligent speed limit assist, driver attention warning, safe exit assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and highway driving assist, automatic high beams, and rear occupant alert.

The SEL and above add front parking sensors, forward collision-avoidance assist with lane change and evasive steering assist, and machine-learning adaptive cruise control with enhanced highway driving assist. The Limited and Disney100 Platinum Edition are truly loaded, getting Remote Smart Parking Assist, a surround-view camera, a blind-spot view monitor, and reverse parking collision-avoidance assist.

Infotainment and Connectivity

All trims are set up with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment array featuring built-in navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. While the SE and SEL come with a more basic multi-speaker audio system, the Limited and D100 Platinum Edition introduce a booming Bose system for those looking to turn their Ioniq 5 into a mini concert hall.
