Trims, Mechanical Specs, and Fuel Efficiency
The three trim levels of the 2023 Sonata Hybrid are Blue, SEL, and Limited. Their hybrid powertrain unites a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a single electric motor, producing a total system output of 192 horsepower; a six-speed automatic transmission takes care of shifting the gears. The EPA has rated the Sonata Hybrid’s three trims, and the Blue comes out on top with an estimated 50 mpg city and 54 mpg highway. The SEL and Limited achieve excellent numbers as well: 45 city/51 highway. This model also has regenerative braking, which captures the kinetic energy formed during the stopping process and stores it in the battery.
Standard and Available Features
The base Blue gets a lot of standard stuff, from dual-zone auto climate control to LED exterior lighting. Its exterior mirrors are enhanced with turn-signal indicators, and it also has proximity entry, push-button ignition, a rear spoiler, a hands-free trunk, and a 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster. The SEL gets heated front seats and heated exterior mirrors, along with Digital Key (which enables your smartphone to lock/unlock doors and start the vehicle), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wireless phone charging. At the top of the trim lineup, the Limited is loaded with the aforementioned now-standard panoramic sunroof, plus a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seats (power-adjustable and ventilated in the front row), a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a head-up display, position memory (driver’s seat and exterior mirrors), an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, ambient interior lighting, and a rear-seat center armrest with cupholders.
Advanced Safety Technologies
Hyundai’s SmartSense suite of driver-assist features is standard issue on the ’23 Sonata Hybrid, outfitting all trims with driver attention warning, forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection), blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, rear occupant alert, and safe exit warning. As the top-spec trim, the Limited gets a few more technologies: highway driving assist, a blind-spot view monitor (a class exclusive), and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Blue trim has all the features needed to keep occupants connected and entertained, with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), Bluetooth for hands-free phone and audio streaming, HD radio, and SiriusXM satellite radio. We mentioned earlier that the SEL has been given some upgrades in this category, meaning that it gets the same upgrades as the Limited. Those enhancements are a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, a Bose sound system with 12 speakers, and a new component: dynamic voice recognition. The Blue has one USB charging port while the SEL and Limited get two; all three trims have a 12V outlet.
