Trim and Powertrain

The front-wheel-drive Elantra N’s heart and soul is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 276 horsepower and 289 lb.-ft. of torque. Since this is a performance car, a six-speed manual gearbox comes standard, although an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters is available. Launch control and N Grin Shift mode (which provides a temporary 10-horsepower boost) are special features of the automatic transmission. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the Elantra N with the stick is 22 mpg around town and 31 mpg on the open road; with the automatic, it’s rated for 20 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

Standard Features

Other than a choice of transmission and color, the 2023 Elantra N comes in a one-size-fits-all configuration. A variable-valve exhaust system, an electronically controlled suspension, enhanced brakes, and Michelin summer tires on 19-inch alloy wheels are all part of the standard performance setup. The spirited sedan’s exterior features include unique front and rear fascia, a rear-deck spoiler, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlights, proximity keyless entry, a power sunroof (automatic transmission only), heated side mirrors, and a hands-free trunk release.

The seating unites leather with microsuede; the front row has sport bucket seats that are heated and manual adjustable, while the second-row seatback splits and folds flat to add cargo-carrying practicality. The driver will enjoy push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, and alloy sport pedals. The Elantra N also has dual-zone automatic climate control, performance-tracking instrumentation, and Hyundai Digital Key (for app-based vehicle access and starting).

Advanced Safety Technology

Hyundai embeds the 2023 Elantra N with SmartSense, the proprietary suite of advanced driver aid technologies. Those features are forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, lane following assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, driver attention warning, and rear parking sensors. Occupants are protected by a full complement of air bags as well.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Infotainment technology for the Elantra N is based around a 10.25-inch touchscreen. The system’s standard components are navigation, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, dual USB ports, wireless device charging, and access to Bluelink connected services.
