2022 Hyundai Kona N for Sale in Springfield, MA
Hyundai’s high-output N sub-brand has gained a new member: the 2022 Kona N. If you’re already familiar with the Kona name, then you’ll know that this is the first time that this subcompact crossover has worn the N badge. It was engineered at the Hyundai Motor Namyang R&D Center, and like every other N model to date, it earned that letter through testing at the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. Some of the N brand’s claims to fame include winning the FIA World Rally Championship, the TRC International Series, the Pirelli World Challenge, and the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race. There’s a whole lot of excitement surrounding this new N iteration, partly because it’s a crossover – a segment not usually known for performance. And although the ’22 Kona N won’t be released until the fall of 2021, there’s a good chunk of enticing information to digest ahead of its debut.
Power and Performance
Under the hood of the ’22 Kona N will be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that stirs up 280 horsepower. When the N Grin Shift button (located on the steering wheel) is pressed, power is briefly enhanced for a more exciting behind-the-wheel experience. This engine will be paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Other noteworthy performance attributes include an N-Corner Carving Differential, an electronic slip differential, high-performance brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, and a traction control system.
Style and Amenities
The ’22 Kona N will flaunt a signature sporty style that’s sure to turn heads. It has a wide, commanding stance, lightweight 19-inch wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tires, a front lip spoiler, a double-wing roof spoiler, side skirts that enhance aerodynamic efficiency and provide a nice sharp look, body-color fender flares and rocker panels, a black grille with an N badge, and an active-sport exhaust with twin tips. The ’22 Kona N will be compatible with Hyundai’s Digital Key, too, allowing you to use your smartphone in place of the key fob. Not only that, but the ’22 Kona N is eligible for a Sonic Blue paint color, creating an attractive contrast with the N-exclusive red accent skirts at the body’s lower end.
Inside, you’ll find an array of sporty elements, like blue accents, a leather-wrapped steering wheel (with the N logo) and shifter knob, sleek race-inspired suede-and-leather sport seats, and a drive selector with Eco, Normal, Sport, N, and Custom modes. The technology features are highlighted by a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, a race-inspired head-up display, an infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, an ear-pleasing Harman Kardon sound system with eight speakers, and a wireless smartphone charger.
Safety and Technology
To make certain that occupants are as safe as possible inside the ’22 Kona N, a full slate of advanced driver aids will be included. These consist of forward collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, safe exit warning, and adaptive cruise control.
