2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

2019 Hyundai Elantra vs Corolla

Overview

The fourth generation has kicked off for the Hyundai Santa Fe, which is back for the 2019 model year as what the Korean automaker is calling "our most advanced SUV ever." While the exceptional 10-year/100,000-mile warranty is the same, the all-new five-passenger Santa Fe boasts a longer list of safety and connectivity features than it had before. It also has a new name of sorts: this is the five-passenger model previously known as Santa Fe Sport, making room in the lineup's nomenclature for the seven-passenger Santa Fe XL.

Trims and Standard Features

Buyers of this fun and efficient crossover can choose from seven trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, Limited 2.0, Ultimate, and Ultimate 2.0T. Although there are two available engines, each is equipped with Shiftronic automatic transmission in either two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. The trims with 2.0 in their name have a 185 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, while the rest are powered by a naturally aspirated 185 hp four-cylinder engine. Front-wheel-drive models with the base engine can expect to get 22 city/29 highway, with AWD cutting those numbers by only an mpg or two. The turbo trims are rated to achieve 20 city/25 highway for FWD and 19 city/24 highway for AWD.

Passenger Comfort/Cargo Space

There is plenty of space within the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe for the comfort of occupants and storage of their belongings and shopping-day purchases. The SEL and above get all of the heated elements: front seats, steering wheel, and exterior mirrors. Trims from the SEL Plus on receive dual-zone automatic climate control with integrated ionizer for air quality. The Ultimate earns its name with heated and ventilated front seats and heated back-row seats. With the easy one-touch push-button release, the 60/40 split rear seatbacks fold down to accommodate oversized items in the cargo area. A hands-free smart liftgate with adjustable height setting is standard on all but the two lowest trims.

Technology

This is the category where the '19 Hyundai Santa Fe shows its advancement for this latest generation. Its standard and optional features for connectivity, crash mitigation, and entertainment are impressive within its class. All trims get four USB outlets (three charging and one data/charging), standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, and a 7-inch screen to manage everything (plus steering wheel-mounted controls). The top two trims get upgraded to an 8-inch touchscreen system with integrated navigation and wireless device charging, and the SEL Plus trim and above get a premium Infinity audio system with 12 speakers. Hyundai Blue Link can be added to most trim levels for various voice-activated functions, including climate control and remote start.
